Carmen is a Clinical Psychologist in private practice who is passionate about teaching and practicing yoga.
Certified by the Yoga Alliance as a Hatha yoga teacher, Carmen completed a 200-hour training program at Soul Space Yoga Studio in Plantsville, CT. Little did she know at the time that her training, initially intended to enhance her personal practice and clinical psychology work, would lead her into formally teaching at Tranquility, a yoga studio and a community she loves; and where she has been practicing yoga for almost five years.
Carmen’s classes are for all levels and emphasize on proper alignment, pranayama, the meditative aspects of asana practice and flow, and yoga philosophy. Her 20+ years of experience as a psychologist as well as her studies and trainings in mindfulness-based stress reduction (Omega Institute) and Buddhism (Shambala tradition) are strong influences in her teaching style and classes.
Carmen lives in beautiful Milford with her husband, two sons, and Sophie the big red poodle, whose downward dog is absolute perfection. Besides her love of family life, work, and yoga, Carmen enjoys swimming, cooking, reading, spending time with friends, and traveling to her native PR to visit family and teach yoga in Spanish.
My name is Maura Cannon and I am a proud mother of 3 adult children and a residential real estate broker for many years. I live on the beach in Milford. Yoga has brought me a sense of peace and contentment, which I want to share with others. I love the philosophy of it. I got serious in my practice in the past few years, certified as a registered yoga teacher in Hawaii at the Maui yoga Shala with Nadia Toriman and am so grateful to Tina for her mentoring as well as the opportunity to be teaching and practicing in the Tranquility yoga studio, as it is a beautiful community of wonderful, welcoming people.
